Whitehaven waltzed into their game on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Overton Wolverines by a score of 65-55. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Wolverines are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Overton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Wilson, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kevin Gladney, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Whitehaven has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Overton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
