Softball Preview: Thornton Trojans vs. Aurora Central Trojans        
        
		
             Thornton is 9-1 against Aurora Central since September of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Thursday. The Thornton Trojans will look to defend their home field  against the Aurora Central Trojans  at 4:00  p.m. Thornton knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Aurora Central likes a good challenge.
 On Tuesday, Thornton got the win against Aurora Central  by a conclusive  12-5.
  Adrianna Villalpando spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five  runs (all of which were unearned)  on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  strikeouts.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Elenna Gray, who  scored four  runs and  stole four bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Raea Fisher, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Thornton  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 12  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Thornton pushed their record up to 4-10 with the  victory, which was their third straight  on the road. As for Aurora Central, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost six of their last seven contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record  this season.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Thornton has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 6.7  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Aurora Central struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 8.7. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
