Recap: Manatee Hurricanes vs. Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Manatee Hurricanes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Charlotte at home to the tune of 38-0. Considering Manatee has won four contests by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Manatee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Heidel, who punched in a rushing score, and also threw for 191 yards and a touchdown while completing 95% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Trayvon Pinder, who rushed for 37 yards and two touchdowns.
The win was the third in a row for Manatee, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points per game. As for Charlotte, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Manatee will be playing at home against Riverview Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Riverview Sarasota's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups. Charlotte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
