Football Recap: Mason Stone Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Girard

There's no place like home for Conneaut Area, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Girard Yellowjackets 27-7 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Conneaut Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Stone, who threw for 128 yards and three TDs. Those three passing touchdowns gave Stone a new career-high. Wyatt Luke was Stone's top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Conneaut Area was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. They are a perfect 7-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Conneaut Area pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Girard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.

Conneaut Area and Girard are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will challenge Sharon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Girard, they will venture away from home to challenge Hickory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
