Soccer Recap: Lufkin Comes Up Short at Home Against Neches

Lufkin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Neches Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Sunday. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Lufkin couldn't quite close it out.

Neches' victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Lufkin will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on College Station at 3:00 p.m. on January 8, 2026. As for Neches, they have already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Jacksonville on the 26th.
