Basketball Game Preview: Homedale Trojans vs. Fruitland Grizzlies

Homedale hasn't had much luck against Fruitland recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Homedale Trojans will host the Fruitland Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Homedale ended up a good deal behind McCall-Donnelly and lost 48-33.

Homedale's loss came about despite a quality game from Tiana Sorenson, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Belen Asumendi, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Fruitland was able to grind out a solid victory over Weiser on Thursday, taking the game 52-39. The win was all the more spectacular given the Grizzlies' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Wolverines are ranked 26th).

Fruitland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Homedale, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Homedale came up short against Fruitland when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 65-55. Can Homedale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
