Baseball Recap: Sheffield Has No Trouble Against Humboldt

The Sheffield Bulldogs made easy work of the Humboldt Vikings on Wednesday and carried off a 10-1 win. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.

John Childers looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Carson Dampier was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Gangar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sheffield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Humboldt struck out eight times.

Sheffield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Humboldt's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Sheffield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Humboldt: the pair will be back at it again later today.
