Basketball Game Preview: Springdale Prep Lions vs. Fairfax Christian Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Springdale Prep Lions duke it out with the Fairfax Christian Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday... One thing working in Springdale Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matches.

Last Thursday, everything went Springdale Prep's way against Prince George's Christian Academy Blue as Springdale Prep made off with an 86-66 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fairfax Christian entered their tilt with Rosedale Christian Academy on Saturday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Rosedale Panthers 80-55. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 37th in Virginia, while the Rosedale Panthers are ranked 182nd in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairfax Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 90.8 points per game. As for Springdale Prep, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.

Springdale Prep beat Fairfax Christian 76-67 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springdale Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
