Baseball Recap: University Falls Short Against Ranked Bridgeport

University faced Bridgeport in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks fell just short of the Indians by a score of 7-6. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

University got a good showing from James Bryner, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Brock Shuba was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Bridgeport, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

University will square off against Preston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last five games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Bridgeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
