Basketball Recap: Atchison County Takes a Loss

Atchison County lost against Doniphan West back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Atchison County Tigers took a blow against the Doniphan West Mustangs, falling 69-35. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Atchison County had strong showings from Kinzee Bauerle, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 18 points and three steals, and Madison Martin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 51.4% of Atchison County's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Atchison County dropped their record down to 2-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Doniphan West, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Atchison County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-40 loss against Centralia on the 17th. As for Doniphan West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-34 win against Horton on the 17th.
