Baseball Game Preview: Wakulla War Eagles vs. Suwannee Bulldogs

The Wakulla War Eagles will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Suwannee Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Wakulla is headed out to face Suwannee after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Wakulla put the hurt on Godby with a sharp 14-3 win on Tuesday.

George Crum looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Wakulla let Sam Bruce and Owen Klees loose on the outfield. Bruce scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Klees scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Bruce has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Pierini, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Suwannee had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lafayette a 6-0 shutout.

The team relied heavily on Noah Lopez, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jace Moran was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Wakulla came out on top in a nail-biter against Suwannee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakulla since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
