Softball Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. Berwick Bulldogs
Athens had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Berwick on Sunday. The Wildcats blew past the Bulldogs 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gretchan Hiley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Ella Coyle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. McKenna Jarvis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory keeps Athens at an undefeated 13-0-1. As for Berwick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Berwick, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-2 loss against Central Columbia on the 27th.
