Basketball Recap: Refugio's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Refugio had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.9 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-36 win over the Kenedy Lions. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Refugio's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bradi Fox-Smith, who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 12 boards, and nine steals. Fox-Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 19 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cedie Wills, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards.

Refugio is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Kenedy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-12 record.

Refugio will square off against Pettus at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Refugio is facing Pettus at the right time seeing as Pettus is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Kenedy, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Kenedy Lions challenge the Yorktown Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
