Softball Preview: Genoa Area Comets vs. Fostoria Redmen

Genoa Area is 8-0-1 against Fostoria since April of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Genoa Area Comets will head out on the road to take on the Fostoria Redmen at 4:45 p.m. Genoa Area is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

Genoa Area is headed into the contest fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Rossford with a sharp 15-4 win on Wednesday.

Kaylin Shields made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Shields has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Shields was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Courtney Chapinski was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Maddie Bronowski was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Fostoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 13-7 to Ross.
