Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Mooresville's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

While Mooresville's win against Cox Mill wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Mooresville had just enough and edged out Cox Mill 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 last Tuesday.

KJ Gillespie looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gavin Barber was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Connor Robertson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Cox Mill is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mooresville will square off against rival A.L. Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Mooresville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while A.L. Brown has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Cox Mill is set to face off against their familiar foe Hickory Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
