Softball Recap: Gilroy Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gilroy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly five runs.

Ariela Yslava made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrea Alvarez, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Averi Peters also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gilroy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ann Sobrato only managed ten hits.

Gilroy pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Gilroy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against Santa Teresa on the 8th. As for Ann Sobrato, they have also already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Branham on the 8th.
