Basketball Game Preview: Vanden Vikings vs. Vacaville Bulldogs

The Vanden Vikings will square off against the Vacaville Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanden is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66 points per game this season.

Vanden is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Pioneer: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Vanden blew Pioneer out of the water with a 101-32 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 66-17.

Nate Hibbert was a one-man wrecking crew for Vanden as he went 12 of 18 from beyond the arc en route to 46 points and eight boards. Those 46 points gave Hibbert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Carraway, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points.

Vanden was working as a unit and finished the game with 29 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, Vacaville finally came back down to earth on Monday. They took a 42-24 bruising from Sacramento. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now lost five in a row.

Vanden is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Vacaville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Everything came up roses for Vanden against Vacaville in their previous meeting on January 8th, as the team secured a 76-49 win. Will Vanden repeat their success, or does Vacaville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
