Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Bears vs. Oviedo Lions

The Cypress Creek Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Oviedo Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Cypress Creek is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Lake Howell on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Cypress Creek was dealt a 78-49 loss at the hands of Lake Howell. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Silverhawks are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Oviedo unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Impact Christian Academy 53-47.

Oviedo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Cypress Creek, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Cypress Creek suffered a grim 69-43 defeat to Oviedo in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Cypress Creek, Hunter Haverkamp (who went 6 for 8 on his way to 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
