Soccer Game Preview: Dos Palos vs. Coalinga

The Dos Palos Broncos will head out on the road to take on the Coalinga Horned Toads at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dos Palos proved they can win big on Friday (they won by four) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Firebaugh get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Dos Palos wouldn't have won without Alexis Martinez, who scored the game-winner.

Dos Palos used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Firebaugh. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Jayden Estrada (75), Martinez (80), and Bruno Perez (80). The trio had averaged 48.7, 53.5, and 55.8 minutes respectively before Tuesday's match. Martinez made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Coalinga had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past the Tigers 4-1. The contest was close at halftime, but Coalinga turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

Coalinga was without their leading scorer, Luis Molina Navarro, in Tuesday's matchup. With Molina Navarro sitting this one out, Justin Ramos got some extra time on the pitch (65 vs. his season average of 42.5). Ramos made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

The victory got Dos Palos back to even at 8-8-4. As for Coalinga, their win bumped their record up to 10-4-3.
