Preview: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Dunedin Falcons
After two games on the road, Tarpon Springs is heading back home. They will take on the Dunedin Falcons at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, Tarpon Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to Palm Harbor University. Tarpon Springs has not had much luck with Palm Harbor University recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Geramyah Porter, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That was a full 35.9% of Tarpon Springs' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Segobin, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Dunedin, who are still winless after their 13th match. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-41 walloping at the hands of Anclote on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Dunedin has suffered since December 6, 2023.
Tarpon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Dunedin, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13.
Tarpon Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Dunedin in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. Will Tarpon Springs repeat their success, or does Dunedin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
