Basketball Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. North Myrtle Beach Chiefs

Loris is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while North Myrtle Beach is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Loris Lions will welcome the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Loris is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Green Sea Floyds, posting a 77-18 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Janiya Richburg was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. Kha'Lazia Stephens was another key player, going 7 of 8 on her way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, North Myrtle Beach won against Southeastern Christian Academy on Monday with 63 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. North Myrtle Beach simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whiteville 63-14. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 12th in South Carolina, while the Wolfpack are ranked 399th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Myrtle Beach's win came from a few key players Loris will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Faith Farmer, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Washington, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Loris' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for North Myrtle Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
