Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Lakeland Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Whitko Wildcats, falling 57-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 60-21 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Lakeland Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Micah Martin, who posted 17 points. That was a full 45.9% of Lakeland Christian Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row Martin has had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rice, who put up nine points.

Riley Harman was the offensive standout of the matchup as he shot 67% from the field on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.9% shooting accuracy. Ethan Yates also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Lakeland Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Whitko, their victory bumped their record up to 7-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lakeland Christian Academy will face off against Hamilton at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian Academy is facing Hamilton at the right time seeing as Hamilton is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Whitko, they will take on Woodlan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodlan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
