Soccer Game Preview: Merrol Hyde Magnet vs. Independence Academy

The Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks will face off against the Independence Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Merrol Hyde Magnet comes in on three and Independence Academy on four.

Merrol Hyde Magnet's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over RePublic.

Matthew Henderson and Austin White scored both of Merrol Hyde Magnet's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Independence Academy won against LEAD Academy on Wednesday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Monday. The Lions came out on top against Lead Southeast by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Independence Academy's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Lead Southeast are ranked 274th).

Merrol Hyde Magnet's win bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Independence Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Merrol Hyde Magnet took their win against Independence Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
