League recap: Farr breaks off league-leading run for Ridgefield

2A Greater St. Helens recap Oct. 3, 2012

Ridgefield's Clayton Farr recorded the longest rushing play in 2A Greater St. Helens this season in his game against Hockinson last week. Farr scampered for 52 yards on the play and finished with 181 on the day as his team beat the Hawks.

Long moved up to 129 from 156 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lumberjacks climbed the ranks as a result of a 34-31 win over Washougal.

Ridgefield's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gunnar Long threw for 99 yards and Sam Gillenwater had 35 yards receiving. Ian Williams helped Ridgefield's passing attack out by catching four balls for 25 yards.

Ridgefield's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spudders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Long has thrown for 678 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Gillenwater has 10 catches for 334 yards. Farr leads the league in rushing with 444 yards.

A big matchup in 2A Greater St. Helens this week will be when Dan Andersen's team takes on the Panthers. The Spudders are in first place, while Washougal is in third place.

Mark Morris extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Aberdeen, 42-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
