Basketball Game Preview: Wingate Bears vs. Navajo Prep Eagles

Wingate is 0-10 against Navajo Prep since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Wingate Bears will head out to square off against the Navajo Prep Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Wingate didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Newcomb, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Navajo Prep faced off against Zuni on Wednesday. Navajo Prep simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Zuni 77-42. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Navajo Prep's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Wingate, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.

Wingate came up short against Navajo Prep when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-49. Can Wingate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
