Basketball Game Preview: Graves County Eagles vs. Lyon County Lyons

The Graves County Eagles will square off against the Lyon County Lyons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Graves County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Marshall County. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Marshals are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Lyon County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 88-37 win over the Wildcats. The Lyons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Lyon County's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.6 points per game. As for Graves County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
