Basketball Recap: Hot Springs Takes a Loss

The Hot Springs Trojans came up short against the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears on Saturday, falling 79-53. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 65th in Arkansas, while the Golden Bears are ranked fifth in Georgia).

Caleb Wilson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 20 boards for Holy Innocents Episcopal. Wilson has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Devin Hutcherson, who went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Hot Springs and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hot Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Holy Innocents Episcopal also won't see the court for a while: their next matchup is against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
