Recap: Carbon Dinos vs. Emery Spartans

The Carbon Dinos pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Emery by a score of 63-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (58), Carbon still had to take the loss.

Carbon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Orth, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Orth is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Timothy, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Emery to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karleigh Stilson, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Maughan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Carbon's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Emery, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carbon will take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Carbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Emery, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against North Sanpete at 7:00 p.m. Emery has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three contests.
