Baseball Recap: Andrew Jackson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Westside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Andrew Jackson). Everything went their way against the Westside Wolverines on Thursday as they made off with an 18-8 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Dwayne Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Lamar Stanfield and CJ Logan did most of the damage at the plate: Stanfield got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run, while Logan scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-5. Those five RBI gave Stanfield a new career-high. Josiah Parker was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Andrew Jackson's victory bumped their record up to 2-14. As for Westside, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Andrew Jackson is taking a road trip to take on Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westside, they will welcome Cedar Creek Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
