Baseball Game Preview: Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles vs. Marshall Academy Patriots

Tupelo Christian Prep and Marshall Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tupelo Christian Prep will be strutting in after a win while Marshall Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Tupelo Christian Prep is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They blew past Regents 20-10.

Tupelo Christian Prep gave Reeves Kenney the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Kenney posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, Nate Cornelison was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Bryce Godown was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI.

Meanwhile, Marshall Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Magnolia Heights, falling 10-2.

Marshall Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colt Carpenter, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
