Basketball Game Preview: Berkeley Prep Buccaneers vs. Buchholz Bobcats

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers and the Buchholz Bobcats will round out the year against one another at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Berkeley Prep will be strutting in after a win while Buchholz will be coming in after a defeat.

Berkeley Prep is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Northeast on Saturday. The Buccaneers walked away with a 61-51 victory over the Vikings. The Buccaneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Berkeley Prep relied on the efforts of Gabe Grimsley, who posted 17 points along with six assists and six steals, and Tomi Akingboye, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of DeSean Carter, who had eight points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Buchholz came up short against Lipscomb Academy on Saturday and fell 75-62. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 72nd in Florida, while the Mustangs are ranked second in Tennessee).

Berkeley Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Buchholz, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
