Baseball Recap: Riverside Makes It Four in a Row at Home

After only two runs in their last contest, Riverside made sure to put some runs up on the board against Western Wayne on Friday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Vikings have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor McNally was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Borowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Jose Sosa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Riverside's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Riverside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-8 win against West Scranton on the 26th. As for Western Wayne, they will square off against Old Forge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
