Softball Recap: Zion-Benton Takes a Loss

Zion-Benton had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-11-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Lake Zurich Bears, falling 12-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-5 back in April.

As for Lake Zurich, their record now sits at 12-14-1. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Lake Zurich's part, Izzy Vodicka was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. That's the most hits Vodicka has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kelly Selzer, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zion-Benton will face off against Libertyville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Zee-Bees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Lake Zurich, they will take on Mundelein at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
