Baseball Recap: Prescott Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Prescott had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Greenway Demons. Considering the Badgers have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Reed made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Coley Fundalewicz looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Prescott let Nick Martin and Lucas Tobin run wild. Martin went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Tobin scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Martin has become a key player for Prescott: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Champion, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Prescott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Prescott pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Greenway, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

Looking ahead, Prescott will host Flagstaff at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Badgers 3.5, the Eagles 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Greenway, they will head out to challenge Thunderbird at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
