Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Superior's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Superior barely beat Hibbing the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bluejackets on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Arianna Robillard made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Matteline Schilling was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Paige B. Johnson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double.

Superior always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hibbing only posted an OBP of .400.

Superior is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hibbing, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Coming up, Superior will welcome Proctor at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hibbing, they will challenge Esko at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
