Softball Recap: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Milford, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Bearcats on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Mallory Rosendahl made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Rosendahl was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, Taylor Beck was incredible, going 4-for-6 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Bella Young also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .489. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the win, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-8. As for Milford, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley will face off against LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Milford, they will take on Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
