Football Recap: Avery County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Avery County's offense. They took a blow against the McDowell Titans on Friday, falling 47-0. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hunter Pittman was nothing short of spectacular for McDowell: he rushed for 159 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Pittman a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Jordan Barnett, who rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for McDowell, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Avery County will challenge Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for McDowell, they will welcome Enka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
