Softball Recap: Maumee Comes Up Short

Springfield hit Maumee with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 11-1. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Maumee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Coutcher, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Maumee now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Springfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maumee will square off against Fostoria at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Redmen at the right time seeing as the Redmen are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Springfield, they will challenge Ross at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
