Softball Recap: Haverhill Has No Trouble Against Dracut

Haverhill barely beat Dracut the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hillies blew past the Middies 11-1 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cayla Irwin (2025) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Irwin (2025) was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Moscaritolo (2027) and Emmy Monnreal (2025) did most of the damage at the plate: Moscaritolo (2027) went 1-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Monnreal (2025) went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Gianna Pistone (2027) was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Haverhill now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dracut, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Haverhill will take on Chelmsford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dracut, they will face off against Billerica Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
