Baseball Recap: Marina Takes a Loss

Marina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Gonzales Spartans, falling 12-1. That's two games in a row now that the Mariners have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Marina saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Titus Calvera, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. That hit was Calvera's first of the season.

Marina's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Gonzales, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marina will face off against Soledad at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gonzales, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Seaside at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th.
