Baseball Recap: Parkland Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Parkland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won nine in a row.

Will Dobil was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Morabito, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Parkland pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.

Parkland will face off against Emmaus at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Allentown Central Catholic, they will take on Northampton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Konkrete Kids have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
