Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Takes a Loss

Gordon-Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Leyton Warriors and fell 81-34. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-16.

It was another big night for Zaili Benish, who went 13 for 22 from beyond the arc en route to 51 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Leyton. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Benish has scored at least a third of Leyton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Fortune, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Gordon-Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Leyton, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gordon-Rushville will take on Mitchell in a tournament on Thursday. As for Leyton, they are taking a road trip to take on Sedgwick County on Tuesday. Leyton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
