Baseball Game Preview: Central of Clay County Volunteers vs. Sylacauga Aggies

For the second straight game, Central of Clay County will face off against Sylacauga. The Volunteers will welcome the Aggies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Central of Clay County came up short against Sylacauga and fell 8-4.

For Sylacauga's part, Brady Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. The Aggies are 3-1 when Thomas allows two or fewer earned runs, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Mims, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Judson Howell, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sylacauga's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-12. As for Central of Clay County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
