Recap: LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls vs. Lake Placid Dragons
The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They managed a 81-76 win over Lake Placid. LaBelle's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Giovanni Beaver continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points. Beaver also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Phillips, who scored 15 points.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Gonzalez, who scored 30 points. Gonzalez scored a full 39.5% of Lake Placid's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Keveun Mason, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
LaBelle's win bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lake Placid, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LaBelle will square off against Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Aubrey Rogers focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. Lake Placid will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Oasis Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Oasis Christian has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
