It was a proper cat-fight when Brookeland challenged High Island on Friday. The Brookeland Wildcats blew past the High Island Cardinals 78-27. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 27 points or more this season.

Brookeland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Morgan, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sammy Lundquist, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Brookeland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why High Island lost, don't look at Cam'Ron Medina. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and seven boards. That was a full 70.4% of High Island's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Brookeland pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for High Island, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Brookeland will welcome Chester at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for High Island, they will head out to challenge Burkeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. High Island is facing Burkeville at the right time seeing as Burkeville is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
