Softball Recap: Port Byron Comes Up Short

Port Byron was the 14-4 winner over Bishop Ludden when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gaelic Knights on Monday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mallory Mills and Raelee McDowell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mills went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs, while McDowell went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. McDowell has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cameryn Brundage, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Port Byron now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Port Byron will square off against Weedsport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop Ludden, they will face off against Onondaga at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
