Softball Recap: Ramona Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Ramona's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rubidoux Falcons an 18-0 shutout. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Kaytlin Stephens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Olivia Chavez and Emily Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Chavez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Kylie Guzman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ramona's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Rubidoux, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ramona is set to challenge their familiar foe Patriot at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Rubidoux will square off against rival La Sierra at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
