Football Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Wasco Tigers + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Mariyon Sloan and Hammie Lopez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Shafter Generals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wasco Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wasco will be up against a hot Shafter squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Generals simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Chavez 56-0. Given the Generals' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Titans are ranked 690th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ezekiel Osborne was his usual excellent self, throwing for 366 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Those 366 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Alex Reyna was Osborne's top target, picking up 125 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Shafter's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Robert Aguirre and Isaiah Monreal, who racked up all four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Wasco got themselves on the board against Delano on Friday, but Delano never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Delano. Wasco hasn't had any issues with Delano recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Shafter's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Wasco, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 8-1.

Shafter took their win against Wasco in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
