Basketball Recap: Ledyard Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Norwich Free Academy

On Friday, Ledyard faced Norwich Free Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Ledyard Colonels fell just short of the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats by a score of 46-43. The Colonels have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Norwich Free Academy was led to victory by Emily Orcutt and Petra Berry. Orcutt went 6-for-12 en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Berry dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Orcutt has scored at least a third of Norwich Free Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Stringer, who posted five points and three steals.

Ledyard's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Norwich Free Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-6.

Looking ahead, Ledyard will head out to face off against Lyman Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Norwich Free Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
