Softball Recap: Stevenson's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Stevenson dropped their record down to 28-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 21-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Mundelein Mustangs by a score of 1-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Patriots haven't been shut out since back in March.

Ava Potempa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

As for Mundelein, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Mundelein's side, Stevenson's batters probably weren't too happy with Sophia Zepeda, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up six walks).

While the Patriots had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
